Help Women Leaders WIN in Berlin this October
I've been receiving emails about WIN's women's leadership activities (including Corporate Network, Development Fund) and conferences for a few years now. I've been inspired by their mission to help women "run companies and initiatives with noble values, and to fully live their lives with beauty and enthusiasm." WIN seeks to accelerate change by developing, empowering and connecting women leaders to a global, authentic and feminine vision.
In the back of my mind, I always had the desire to participate in a WINConference; yet I never acted upon that desire -- until recently. For some reason, THIS June, I was prompted to submit a proposal to offer my Mindset Reset for Business training as one of their workshops. And, I guess I forgot that when I ASK the universe for BIG things that will benefit others, I can RECEIVE exactly what I request.
Which brings me to the purpose of this post. I'm seeking backers, supporters, and sponsors to make this goal a reality -- so I can accept my invitation to present Mindset Reset for Business at the 17th Annual WINConference in Berlin, Germany this October 1-4!
I've created a sponsorship campaign on Indiegogo (my first!) to help fund the journey "across the pond" to Berlin. It includes several specially-priced PERKS of my coaching products and VIP coaching sessions. Click below to learn more.
YOU can become part of this authentic, global vision for women! Give if you feel inspired! Spread the word to your network! And, DANKE -- THANK YOU for your support!!

Let's Talk About Holiday Stress on December 12
The beautiful state-of-the-art Farber Center for Radiation Oncology was directly impacted by the storm due to its location in TriBeCa. Yet, we're excited to report that the Center is doing fine and will still host our event.
My talk will still be on Chronic Stress: The Hidden Health Risks & How to Reduce Them. Did you know that 36% of employees lose an hour or more per week due to stress? On December 12th, I'll also be sharing tips on how to manage holiday stress -- including how to find your own holiday sanctuary!
Proceeds from our event will still benefit The Seeds of Care Foundation, which provides local support services for cancer patients during and after treatment.
If you will be in the New York City area during the holidays, I hope you will join us on December 12th! Come meet me along with other preventive health experts -- including Culinary Nutrition pioneer Stefanie Sacks -- to learn about important matters affecting your health. Start 2013 off right -- and reduce your risk for chronic health issues!

Stress & Diabetes: Learn About the Risks on November 14
Stress has been proven to play a significant role in many health concerns – from asthma to migraines, cancer to heart disease, and now diabetes. And, believe it or not, the way you think about your life affects your stress level – and therefore your health.
Join me on Wednesday, November 14 -- which also happens to be World Diabetes Day for my upcoming talk on Chronic Stress: The Hidden Health Risks & How To Reduce Them.
I will be discussing how to recognize your stress triggers, and to include simple stress reduction habits (like meditation and affirmations) into your daily routine so you can be more resilient, and live a healthier life with less tension and anxiety. For example, it has been shown that simple stress management techniques can have a significant impact on blood glucose control for people with Type 2 diabetes.
My talk is part of the ongoing Masters of Health & Wellness Speaker Series in the tri-state area sponsored by Turtle Shell Health, designed to explore important matters concerning today’s preventive health movement. It will be set in the beautiful state-of-the-art Farber Center for Radiation Oncology, founded by Dr. Leonard Farber to provide cancer patients with a warm alternative to the sterile and often daunting hospital environment without compromising quality of medical care.
Also speaking will be culinary nutrition pioneer, Stefanie Sacks MS, CNS, CDN on The Role of Food in Preventing Illness & Restoring Health.
Proceeds from this event will benefit The Seeds of Care Foundation, founded by The Farber Center, which provides local support services for cancer patients during and after treatment including professional nutritional counseling, classes, transportation, language assistance, educational workshops as well as financial support for integrative therapies, palliative and end of life care.
If you will be in the New York City area on Wednesday, November 14, join us for this empowering event to celebrate World Diabetes Day. You can purchase tickets online HERE and/or reserve your spot to pay at the door. Don't wait -- claim your spot today!

Coach Colette Joins Fashion Relief to Support Japan Earthquake Fund
On Thursday April 21, I'll be participating in a Lion'esque Style POP Up Fashion Relief event at mizu new york on Fifth Avenue to help support the Red Cross Japan Earthquake Fund.
Hosted by Melissa Gonzalez, this VIP reception and trunk show will feature sophisticated designs from Ramy Sharp for Ramy Brook, and stylish jewelry from CatherineBeth. In addition to a fabulous gift bag with purchase, we will be holding a raffle for all donating guests.
The winning prize is a special treat including a 3-month membership to Equinox, a collection of mizu new york products, a complimentary life coaching session with Coach Colette of InStep Consulting, and a closet revamp with celebrity stylist Lauren Rae Levy.

Coach Colette Gets Canned on December 16th!
OK, now that I have your attention, let me tell you about an exciting career and social networking event on Tuesday, December 16, from 7:00 - 10:00 PM called Get Canned.Being laid off, or 'getting canned,' rarely has a positive side to it; but, Get Canned takes a positive spin and embraces the theme - collecting canned goods for the Food Bank for New York City in place of a cover charge to attend the event.
I'll be on hand in the Elevation Lounge to answer your questions and offer complimentary laser-coaching sessions. Get the guidance and support you need to face (and embrace) your career transition! One lucky raffle winner will win a FREE CAREER COACHING PACKAGE!
You CAN do it – I did!
Nearly six years ago, I found out that my position would be eliminated because of a company merger. Ironically, that was my second "downsizing" experience within 13 months! The way I saw it, I had two choices [now I know there were many others too!]:
What did I do? I leveraged my contacts and skills, and chose the latter option. I’ve spent the past six years building my consulting and coaching practice to the level it is today. Come to Get Canned on December 16 to learn how you too can transition into success in 2009!
Healthy mind -- healthy body -- healthy career!
Equinox Fitness will have personal trainers onsite to answer your questions and help plan your 2009 fitness routine. They're donating a FREE MEMBERSHIP pass to the raffle!

Get Coached on Work-Life Balance Strategies TOMORROW!
According to a survey by AOL, here are some places that people send and receive emails:
· In bed in their pajamas: 67%
· From the bathroom: 59% (up from 53% last year)
· While driving: 50% (up from 37% last year)
· In a bar or club: 39%
· In a business meeting: 38%
· During happy hour: 34%
· While on a date: 25%From church: 15% (up from 12% last year)
OK, the bathroom stat makes me not want to borrow anyone's phone or BlackBerry anytime soon! I'll admit that I've checked email (or more likely texts) while at a bar waiting for someone to arrive [it's that knee-jerk reaction so you don't appear so "alone" while sitting there]. But, on a date? What would Andrea and the folks at MeetMarket Adventures have to say about that one?!
So you know I've written many posts about the challenges of being unplugged. I have noticed an increase in the number of emails I receive after 7:00 PM. Now, truth be told, it may not be an increase in traffic -- just a heightened awareness since now I, too, have a BlackBerry and can see the blinking light when a new message comes through. Although, I typically choose not to respond -- unless I've been on the road or out of the office all day. That's my caveat for evening/night emailing ... what's yours?
And, so, our work-life balance struggle continues. Which of the places above do you check email? What about texting?

‘Tis the season to be jolly … not for career folly!
So, it’s that time of year again – holiday parties sponsored by your company and/or professional associations. With good sense and foresight, these events can be excellent venues for you to demonstrate your competent advantage.TM
Here are some tips to help you be the "life of the party," but NOT the subject of post-event gossip.
Before the event:
- Get a feel for the mood and expectations for the party. Do people dress up or is business attire more appropriate? Regardless of the official attire, you should always dress to impress.
- Will there be any announcements or formal activities? And, if so, when will they occur? The last thing you want to do is stroll into the room just as your President or CEO is making his/her holiday toast!
During the event:
- Watch your food and alcohol consumption. Have fun, but be careful not to overindulge. This is NOT the party for you to demonstrate how many tequila shots you can drink or how many cocktail shrimp you can eat!
- Take notice of who attends the event. In addition to chatting with coworkers, look for ways to informally connect with managers or executives. It’s not necessarily the place to give a long speech about why you deserve a raise or promotion. However, you should always be prepared to give a 30-second pitch about your role in your organization. Be sensitive to their desire to talk about business. Parties can be great occasions to discuss hobbies and other interests that identify otherwise unknown commonalities.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Take notice of when the party starts to wind down. Why? Well, do you really want to be around when the cater waiters are clearing the tables and putting up chairs? Remember, you don’t have to go home but …
After the event:
- Make sure you have a safe mode of transportation for the evening.
- If you do happen to connect with a new colleague, make an effort to reach out via phone or email within a couple of days. Expanding your network at holiday parties is a great way to leverage your competent advantage.TM
